Scouting in Gloucestershire is a growing organisation, as on 29 November 2006 forty youngsters aged between 6 and 14 were invested in to a brand new Scout Group opening in Cranham. Cranham village is in the Stroud and Tetbury Scout District and this is the first new brand new Scout Group to be opened in Gloucestershire for many years. The members of the group are all looking forward to the "every day" adventures that Scouting offers, for example, camping, hiking, cooking, games and much more. One of the first activities they will be completing will be the Scout Information Technology Badge.

District Commissioner, Anna King, said "It is really exciting to be opening up new Scout Groups in the run up to 2007 which is Scouting’s centenary year. Opening up a new group at Cranham as a result of local demand is just another example of how Scouting is growing, is offering boys and girls exciting activities and encouraging them to really get the most out of life".

County Commissioner, Joan Goldsmith, added "At a time when the government is encouraging young people to take up an active life style it is wonderful to see Scouting is still meeting this need that young people have to try new things and have a great time outdoors with their friends in a way that is still relevant to them in the 21st century."
