PADI Skin Diver

19 August 2010

 

Obtain the PADI qualification in one day. Held at Gloucestershire’s National Diving & Activity Centre. All equipment and instruction supplied. Sessions are run by PADI qualified instructors (the same team who run our popular scuba diving courses).

COUNTY SCUBA OPEN WATER

3 - 5 September AND 17 - 19 September

 

Participant need to attend both weekends to complete the County Scuba Open Water Course.

AIR ACTIVITY WEEKEND

17 - 19 September

 

Based at Defford airfield near Pershore. Air activities course alongside Young Eagles Scheme including flying (weather permitting). Several Scout activity badges included. Each Troop must also send one adult [free] for every six Scouts. This adult must be known to the Scouts; CRB cleared and will also have some responsibility for the conduct of team during weekend. Use separate application form.

Try Dives 2010

3 October

 

The opportunity for Scouts and Explorer Scouts to experience a scuba dive in the safety of a swimming pool. Sessions last for approx one hour (includes snorkelling) at  Whitecross Leisure Centre, Lydney. Sessions are run by PADI qualified instructors.

Dragon Boating 2010

3 October

 

South Cerney. This is a day at the Cotswold Water Park which includes instruction and several races. Scouts will gain the activity badge. 

Particularly suitable for Explorers.

Canal Weekend 2010

8 - 10 October

 

A weekend on narrowboats on the Grand Union Canal. You learn to steer the boat and work the locks. Badges awarded: Scouts: Power Coxswain; 

Explorer Scouts: Water Activities.

Bald Eagle 2010

8 - 10 October

 

Bookings are now being taken. This event is a full weekend camp: 

Friday Evening: A special challenge for Scouts to complete during the evening; a team activity which will count towards the overall score. Saturday Morning & Afternoon: Thirty small bases that Scouts can pick and mix to earn points towards the Day Base Challenge. Saturday Evening: A night hike 6pm till midnight. Scouts hike over and around Bredon Hill and the surrounding area, stopping at and attempting eleven night hike exercises as they go to earn points towards the Night Base Challenge.  The Operation Bald Eagle trophy is for the best team overall.

County Chief Scout's Award Reception

14 October

 

An evening to celebrate the achievements of all those who have gained the Chief Scout's Gold, Platinum or Diamond Award in academic year 2009/10.

 

D.C.'s and D.E.S.C.'s are asked to ensure that details (name address and award gained) are sent to the event administrator (Kevin Brewer), no later that 20 August 2010 so that invitations can be issued in good time.

Mountain Weekend

15 - 17 October

 

Weekend in Snowdonia. This weekend will offer the opportunity for a full day mountain walking with walks suitable for all abilities on the Saturday, and a choice of activities on the Sunday morning. This weekend could count towards the Scout Hillwalker Badge or Adventure Challenge, or the Explorer Scout Hill Walking Activities Badge. Conditions permitting, it may be possible for the more experienced to spend a lightweight night out in the hills so please state if you would be interested in this option.

Information Technology Weekend

15 - 17 October - Cranham

 

Stages of the IT Badge. Learn about IT - computers and the Internet. Indoor accommodation and catering is provided. Join in Jamboree - on - the - Internet [JOTI] and talk to Scouts from around the world.

Mid week half term course at the Warehouse Climbing Centre in Gloucester. Climbing & bouldering using the extensive facilities & fully qualified instructors. All climbing equipment provided. Non-residential.

COUNTY ADVANCED SCUBA OPEN WATER

 

29 - 31 October

 

Do you already hold either: PADI Open Water Scuba Diver or BSAC Ocean Diver Why not carry on and get the next level of qualification? A residential weekend course culminating in the PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver award.

 Haarlem Jamborette

 

30 July - 10 August 2010

 

The Haarlem Jamborette is an international scouting camp in the Netherlands.  

It is held every four years in Spaarnwoude located between Haarlem and Amsterdam. It’s a ten day camp for scouts in the age of 10 up until 16 years old.
