Scouting in Gloucestershire: Helping young people reach their full potential

About Scouting in Gloucestershire

.

Each Scout Group may have up to three sections.  The Beaver Scouts (aged 6 - 8) the Cub Scouts (aged 8 - 10½) and the Scouts (aged 10½ - 14).  Each District in the County runs the Explorer Scout section (for young people aged 14 - 18) and the County co-ordinates the Network Section (for young people aged 18 - 25).

These sections all follow the Scout Association's programme of activity aimed at helping young people to get the most out of life.

Each section is led by a team of adult leaders.

All leaders in Scouting are volunteers - no-one gets paid for what they do, they do it because they enjoy it and find it rewarding.

Scouting in the 21st Century Scouting is no-longer about passing a series of tests to gain badges.  It is now all about joining in, making friends, doing your best, and having FUN.

There are many more ways in which you can get involved in Scouting apart from as a leader in one of our sections.  Maybe you would like to work as a group secretary, treasurer or chairman, perhaps you enjoy fundraising, maintenance or it could be that you could offer a particular skill to a district or to the county.

If you would like to find out more about being involved in Scouting call the Scout Association's information service on 0845 300 1818
